Topic F Action Learning is Project Based

School-based action learning projects are built around a problem (an issue, challenge, opportunity or initiative) for which there is no easily definable solution.

Teachers, on a day to day basis, investigate and/or explore their own professional practice with a view to enhancing student learning. To support this aspect of their professional lives, teachers frequently make use of action learning project work.

There are two types of action learning projects: group projects and individual projects. A group project usually involves the whole team working on the same project, for example: the introduction of a new school-based curriculum package across all year levels.

Where individual projects are used, each team member brings to the set a project which might relate to a common theme. For example, a group of early childhood teachers might work in a team with a theme "early literacy practices". Each team member would bring to the group a specific project related to the broad theme.
