Graduate Teacher Professional Learning Program to Expand
As part of the Department of Education and Training's support for new teachers, invitations have now been extended through districts for Graduate Teachers who have completed Module 1 of the Graduate Teacher Professional Learning Program to enrol in Module 2.

This module - FACILITATING STUDENT LEARNING - focuses on Dimension One of the Competency Framework for Teachers.
The Module will include:
Unit 1
- Engaging Students in Purposeful and Meaningful Learning Experiences
Unit 2
- Sharing of Practice - Follow-up from Module 1
- Putting it Together - planning for outcomes
- Long range - understanding an outcomes approach and the place of Achievement Targets
- Daily and weekly - using the Outcomes and Standards Frameworks and Curriculum Guides and other DET resources to develop learning activities for your classroom.
This module has been trailled with a group of beginning teachers who were very enthusiastic about the support it provided:
"I am revitalized. I will go back to the classroom determined to keep on using a variety of strategies and refining and becoming more expert in the ones I am currently using."
"I am very satisfied because it helped to progress me in my quest to become a great teacher."
"As a new teacher I feel very supported by this program. Being provided with strategies, real life programs and the opportunity to share and network is great!"
"I am confident that my current practice is innovative: however I am so relieved to have clarity on the Competency Framework and its importance. Look out class!"
"It has given me more confidence to try new things and increased my motivation to teach better and reflect on my teaching."
Approximately 550 Graduate Teachers have attended Module 1 of the Graduate Teachers Professional Learning Program offered through the Professional Learning Institute since the beginning of 2006.
