Unit 2: Application of assessment tools and resources

Teachers will be navigated through the resources.

  • Assessing Students' Narrative Writing - this resource consists of a marking guide and performance exemplars to support teachers in making on-balance judgements about students' writing, and to understand how students' writing can be improved.
  • Assessing Students' Numeracy - resources have been developed for Space, Measurement, Number, and Chance & Data and support teachers to develop an understanding of students' progression in levels of the outcomes, 'misunderstandings' students may develop and the teaching that best facilitates students' learning.
  • Assessing Students' Reading - this resource provides assessment exemplars and makes explicit the levels and aspects being addressed by the WALNA questions.

A range of strategies for using the resources will be demonstrated.

This module provides an opportunity to use effective tools for data analysis and gain an understanding of assessment for learning.
