Elective: Assessment Literacy
This module provides participants with a context to develop their understandings about assessment literacy using Departmental tools.
Unit 1: WALNA/MSE9 Data Analysis
- Interpreting student, program and school erpformance using an electronic data workbook
- WALNA data and consistent teacher judgements
- Using WALNA reports and data in student and parent/caregiver meetings
- WALNA data in planning programs and setting targets
- WALNA data and school review and annual reporting (using teacher and principal data).
Unit 2: Application of assessment tools and resources
Teachers will be navigated through the resources.
- Assessing Students' Narrative Writing - this resource consists of a marking guide and performance exemplars to support teachers in making on-balance judgements about students' writing, and to understand how students' writing can be improved.
- Assessing Students' Numeracy - resources have been developed for Space, Measurement, Number, and Chance & Data and support teachers to develop an understanding of students' progression in levels of the outcomes, 'misunderstandings' students may develop and the teaching that best facilitates students' learning.
- Assessing Students' Reading - this resource provides
assessment exemplars and makes explicit the levels and aspects being
addressed by the WALNA questions.
This module provides an opportunity to use effective tools for data analysis and gain an understanding of assessment for learning.
